This astonishing embroidery is a part of the 8-piece series dedicated to European Palaeolithic art. It can be purchased and admired as a single piece of 40 x 40 cm (15.7 x 15.7 in), or you can get more pieces from the series for your home, office or business premises. The whole series as a set of 8 measures 80 x 160 cm (31.4 x 62.8 in).
This incredible embroidery is a recreation of a motif from the Lascaux Cave, a famous prehistoric Unesco site. The motif is taken from the Panel of the Chinese Horses and it depicts the so-called Second Chinese Horse. In the background, we can see various signs, including a square red sign and two yellow branching signs. The horse is extremely precise and anatomically concise. Contour lines were done with a brush, while for the mane and the coat, spray technique was used. We have recreated every detail with great precision in this marvellous embroidery.
Estimated to be more than 17,000 years old, Lascaux Cave paintings amaze us with its incredible beauty and sophistication. Exceptional realism, as well as their spectacular colours, is why Lascaux is sometimes referred to as The Sistine Chapel of Prehistory – and their artists as Michelangelos and Da Vincis of Palaeolithic. Their art survived through millennia of the changing world, rising and falling of civilizations, wars and weather, leaving a permanent mark for us and our descendants to find and admire.
